Corporate Wellness Days
Corporate Wellness Days for Your Employees
A corporate wellness day brings health screenings and medical aid support to your office. We arrange the day with your medical scheme’s wellness providers, so employees can complete their health checks on site, often earning wellness rewards in the process, and then sit down with one of our brokers to understand their benefits. Your employees get healthier and better informed, and your HR team gets fewer queries afterwards.
What happens on the day
We coordinate the day with your medical scheme and its wellness partners, and with your HR team, so it fits around your operations. A typical wellness day includes:
- On-site health screenings carried out by registered health professionals arranged through the scheme, typically checking blood pressure, blood glucose, cholesterol and BMI.
- Benefit explainer sessions in small groups, covering how employees’ options work, how to get hospital pre-authorisation and how to register chronic conditions.
- One-on-one broker time for employees to ask questions and get help with outstanding claims or queries.
- App and online support, helping employees set up their scheme’s member app so they can manage their cover themselves.
Example: Discovery Health and Vitality
For companies on Discovery Health Medical Scheme, a wellness day is a practical way to get employees engaged with Vitality. Employees who are Vitality members can complete their Vitality Health Check at the office instead of making their own appointment, earning Vitality points towards their status. Our broker then explains how their Discovery plan works, from their savings and day-to-day benefits to how to use the app.
Other schemes offer their own wellness screening benefits and reward programmes. What’s available depends on your scheme and each employee’s option, and we’ll confirm the details when we plan the day. Read more about Discovery medical aid for employees.
Why companies run wellness days
Earlier detection
Screenings help employees spot risks like high blood pressure or raised blood sugar early, when they are easier to manage.
Better use of benefits
Employees who understand their cover use it properly, claim correctly and get more value from the benefit you pay for.
Fewer HR queries
Questions get answered by a broker on the day instead of landing on HR’s desk for the rest of the year.
Visible care
A wellness day is a tangible sign that the company takes employee health seriously.
Cost and confidentiality
Many schemes fund wellness screenings from members’ wellness benefits, so in many cases there is little or no direct cost to the company beyond providing space and time. We’ll confirm what applies to your scheme before the day.
Individual health results are confidential between each employee, the health professional and their medical scheme. They are not shared with the company. Where a scheme provides anonymised group reports, we’ll take you through them.
Planning checklist for HR
- A private room for screenings and a separate space for benefit sessions
- A schedule by department or shift, so operations aren’t disrupted
- Two to three weeks’ notice to employees, with a short note on what to bring (usually their medical aid membership number)
- A contact person in HR on the day
We’ll handle the rest, including coordination with the scheme and providers.

Frequently asked questions
Do employees need to be on the same medical scheme?
Screenings are tied to each employee’s scheme benefits, so they work best for companies on a group scheme. If some staff are on other schemes or not on medical aid, we’ll discuss options for including them.
Will the company see employees' health results?
No. Individual results are confidential between the employee, the health professional and their medical scheme.
How long does a wellness day take?
It depends on how many employees take part. Most screenings take around 15 minutes per person, and we schedule groups so the day fits your operations.
Can you run wellness days at more than one site?
Yes. For companies with several offices or sites, we plan a schedule across locations, subject to provider availability.
How often should we hold a wellness day?
Most companies hold one a year, often timed before or after the renewal period so benefit changes can be explained at the same time.
